Hi all, I have been reading regularly the newsletters / posts of Ugly Hedgehog for some time now and just decided it was about the time to became a member. Photography for me is just an hobby and I am hoping I can learn more and more about it. I still have a camera and lenses from the film era but also have a DSLR FF with which I use old lenses.

Welcome to your forum. This place is an excellent place for you to learn, share and grow. I, too, am a hobbyist. I have learned a great deal and met some fantastic people. Many here bring years of experience. I started in High School with a ZenitE and a prime 50mm lens. It was only a few years ago when I stepped into the Twenty-First Century and bought a digital FF. Needless to say, you can bring to the table ideas and techniques from way back when. I look forward to your future posts.

Welcome to UHH
There are many knowledgeable people here who are willing to share and help.
At the bottom of the page is an "All Sections" link that will take you to a listing of all the sections available on UHH. You can subscribe to the sections you are interested in. Included in the list is a FAQ section, it is a good idea to look that over. Once you have selected the sections you are interested in you will find that the "Newest Topics" link at the top of the page will have more coverage of posts than the Daily Digest.
Also at the top of the page is a "Help" link, it would be helpful to be familiar with the information there. Many of the different sections have FAQ/rules that pertain to that section.

Welcome to the forum. I'm an amateur/hobbyist myself. I don't have any old lenses. But, I remember when I borrowed my father's 35mm film Minolta SRT-101, how sharp that manual 50mm lens was. He sold that camera, and we both went digital.

Thanks, my first camera i have ever handed was also my father's Minolta (a rangefinder, fixed lens), but never had the chance to used it myself (my Brother had, but then it was stolen from him). But I do have tons of slides by that Minolta, which I am currently copying into digital (using my DSLR and bellows).

I think myself this is a great place with many knowledgeable people, as I receive regular emails for UHH for some time now, I just wish I had the time to read much more than I do. But those tips of yours will help (y)

Many thanks. I also spent years (but not regularly) with a 50mm. At the moment I am exploring photography with a 30mm... I am enjoying it a lot :)
