Capture One Express Issue

I currently have Capture One Express installed on my PC. I decided to start with Express to get a feel for the editing functions prior to moving to Capture One Pro12. My question: all the downloaded photos are jpeg. Irony is I only shoot RAW. I suspect I missed a button or two when I imported the photos. If any has an idea of what I missed I would appreciate your response. Thanks in advance.

I use C1 Sony Pro. I tried C1 Express, but for a brief time when I got a Sony camera. The initial install provided a trial of the Pro version, which I used and loved. After a short while maybe a couple of weeks, the free license reverted to the Express version and I hated it - too many useful features (for my use, anyway) had been disabled. So I upgraded to the Sony Pro version.

I can't recall if your issue was one of the things I did not like about it. I do recall opening and editing arw files, and one of the canned export recipes is to generate a full resolution jpeg.

Maybe you can be a little more descriptive - what do you mean by downloaded photos being jpegs? Are you using the Library in C1 to find and open files? are they automatically opening as jpegs? Or are you processing them using the export recipe to jpegs?

FWIW - I much prefer the editing experience in C1 to any other raw conversion software - and I routinely use Lr for its catalog and processing my Nikon files, DXO PhotoLab2, and On1. C1 is fast, quality of output is excellent, and there are shortcut modes that allow you to apply some well thought out adjustments automatically to one or a group of files. I can edit much faster in C1 than any of the other programs.

Very helpful. I downloaded from my Sony Play Memories file which has a few jpeg, mostly RAW files which appear in the browser bar as jpeg only. I missed something during the import process. Problem is I don't know how to delete all my downloaded photos and start over again. Interesting that the Quick Edit and Color modules work perfectly. Thanks for your help, much appreciated!

You need to open the Capture One software first. Then insert your memory card into the computer. In Capture One - select new session. You should see all of the images that are on your card and then click download. This explains it all in great detail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi0HUc9lmCg

I believe the op has Capture One Express which I think does not do sessions.

I just purchase Capture One for Fuji. I had On1 for a few years. My experience thus far is that On1 is more intuitive and easier to use even though I have heard the opposite. I am having some difficulty with the Capture One online support. The video support is extremely fast and only glances over critical areas. On1, on the other hand really does a thorough job of taking it slow and covers each video very well. As you can see I am having a little buyers remorse but I will remain with Capture One and hope that it pans out eventually.

My mistake was I purchased the Fuji version of Capture One and out of 5,545 (many are duplicates) photos that I added I can edit about only 1,500 Fuji photos since the residual of over 4,000 were shot on my
Nikon 610 which I had for several years before my Fuji XT2. I should have spent about another $100 and bought the Pro version whereby you can designate the cameras used for editing.

Now that I purchased the Fuji version of Capture One including the license they will not allow me to upgrade until the revised 2021 version comes out.
