I am considering doing a photo expedition in Croatia in 2021 and was wondering if anyone has been there or has any experience in dealing with a photographer that is local. From what I have seen, the country looks stunning, but I typically like to have a local pro or tour leader to handle the logistics. Any input is welcome, Thanks as always
No input, other than, bully for you.
No help but sounds great. Send pics later.
I have been twice. It is a stunningly beautiful country, you will take great pictures. We also hired a guide who took us to Montenegro for a day trip - through Bosnia and razor wire fence borders, and that was more than fantastic. Go off the beaten path, hiring a local guide is always the way to go. Forget package tours!

I was there in September of 2016. It's a beautiful country and fairly easy to drive in. I rented a car and had no problems. I was in the Dubrovnik area and drove to Plitvice Lakes National Park.
Some of my images are here:

Make sure that KRKA National Park is on your list.
My wife and I were there ten years ago and we loved it. If you are interested you can see our “Zagreb, Hvar,
Plitvice Lakes and also Montenegro 2009” photo/video tour on her YouTube channel at lesdubb. We were on a small tour but took many videos and photos. If you like that part of the world may I also recommend Macedonia, Greece, Albania, Republic of North Macedonia and Serbia. The Meteora, Greece locale which is in the NW area of Greece is breathtaking with many Eastern Orthodox monasteries on high isolated mountain cliffs. We found this area of the world a fascinating place. My wife has not completed the later tour video but maybe within the next six months. Enjoy your trip!
I hope you enjoy. You might want to look at some history books to see what Croatia was like during the Second World War, which side were they on.

May I recommend the following two photographers who lead photo-tours in the area :
Jim Zuckerman leads a Balkan photo tour from time to time (along with tours all over the world) We went on a Balkans trip and a Kenya trip with him. He's a childhood friend, and an amazing photographer and teacher.

On that trip, our 'local' driver/guide, also a superb photographer was Luka Esenko who lives in Ljubljana Slovenia. He also leads photo-tours of the region.

Visited there several years ago on an OAT small group tour. You will love it, plenty of unique photo ops and just a beautiful country and lovely people.
