Does anyone else picture(no pun) Paul(if I may) sitting high atop a mountain in perhaps tibet in an orange robe surrounded by children all holding various types of cameras..Dx,Fx mirrorless and of all brands.offering zen riddles about the qualities of all types. Is his a higher thought process than we mortals are capable of..Or is it simply pure clarity of thought.

Are you sure this is a photography question? Maybe put it in chitchat or I personally would think twice about making a fellow user the topic of a topic.

Paul has an extensive amount of knowledge and is very helpful to a lot of folks. He likes his Canons as we all like our Nikons , fujis etc... Personally I enjoy the messages from the mount. Our subject matter can be a bit dry at times and a little humor welcome.

He doesn't have anything to do with DX, FX. He is CHG_CANON who used to use Canon but got caught on the Sony Mirrorless craze. DX and FX are Nikon and he doesn't want to touch them.

Many of our members have expertise in different areas of photography- technique, equipment, business, and the diverse special applications of the craft. One or two individuals can't possibly know EVERYTHING. That's why this forum, as bizarre as it sometimes gets, it still a great resource. When somebody knows what they are writing about- don't knock it! If you disagree, that' OK too- ask around, get a consensus, do the research and you'll find the truth.

I am a commercial photographer, NOT a gear retailer, wholesaler or an expert on what's hot and what's not and what is the latest and greatest when it comes time to buy new gear or replace obsolete or worn-out equipment. So...usually, on a daily basis, I am not particularly interested in marketing and buying trends in cameras and lenses. I keep abreast of the latest innovations on a more casual or peripheral basis until it's time to make a specific investment and and buy some gear to address different incoming work. Many professionals, like myself, use our gear until it disintegrates or finds that it no longer fills our requirements. So... it's nice to tap into the knowledge of our great gear mavins and consider their opinions as a start in researching potential purchases.

Personally and frankly, I don't think it is a good idea to start a thread or have a discussion about a fellow member, especially someone that you really do not know, even in jest!
If I appreciate what someone writes, I will thank them publicly in any given thread. I don't want to risk that a pithy or flowery assessment of someone's overall participation in the form may be misconstrued as a backhanded compliment and start an unpleasant exchange- there is certainly enough of that.

When someone takes the time to sate an opinion, give advice, answer a question- just consider that a good thing!
