First it was 42nd Street Photo, now it's Abe's Of Maine. But, a deal is hard to ignore. Especially, if you have no idea the vendor is a Scammer. According to some on this forum. Abe's Of Maine was a reputable business at one time. But, we're bought out by others. That's when things got worse.
A photographer and their money are easily parted.
I recently purchased a Gray Market Nikon 18-140 thru Amazon by Abe's for $238.80. Adorama had a refurb for about the same money...but they were on one of their long holidays and I needed it by the weekend. Amazon prime had it in my hands in 2 days. So far...so good! I wouldn't go that route for a more expensive camera...but for a fairly cheap lens at less than half the cost of a new US version...it seemed like a no brainer.
If Abe's is so bad why is it still in business?

I guess that I have been lucky, I have bought 3 cameras and a lens or two and a flash from Abes with no problems.

I saw a graymarket Sony a6500 on sale at Abe's of Maine for $839. Is this a good deal; they warranty it for 90 days.
I would never buy anything from Abe’s of Maine

shieldsadvert,
If you want: 1-headaches, 2-problems galore, 3-learning to hate, 4-tests of your patience,
5-feeling sick, 6-learning new slangs and bad words in every language, and 8-feeling your rights have been violated; then BY ALL MEANS, BUY FROM THEM.
Nononononononono! Do NOT buy from them.
There is only one serious problem with gray market gear and that is that as a rule those that represent it here in this country will not do the repairs or offer any warranty.
A gray market camera is not different from one that has been genuinely imported and usually it is cheaper but if anything goes wrong it will have to be sent overseas.
Have peace of mind and buy US import.
With luck on your side, you are more willing to risk buying grey market equipment.

Proceed with care, Abe's of Maine is not like honest Abe, in fact, most of the time, it is just the opposite.
Abe’s of Maine was good when they were in Maine. Since they moved (a few times) sold tastiness, the new owner seem to want to trade on the previous owners reputation, all the while operating substantially different than the original owners. I would buy nothing from them today. I doubt, although I could be wrong, that the camera will come in a factory supplied carton with all original equipment pieces included. It’s your money, spend it as you like. For me, I’ll stick with Adorama, B&H, Cameta, and Unique Photo, or my local shop in Hartford, CT, Camera Bar.
