Washing machines rotate just fast enough to create a temporary vortex to another universe. A universe with a seemingly insatiable appetite for individual socks.

Love it! Happened just yesterday! Tomorrow, the lost one will reappear. I've even resorted to counting each sock as they go into the washer and "poof" one is usually missing by the end of the dryer cycle. I'll have to give Sheldon a call and see what the explanation is. THAT one should be a good one! Thanks for the post, Gargleblaster!
Glad you liked it. You're more than welcome.
WOW - a scientific explanation of an age old question - where id the other sock go????

Just a thought...you might start a thread, asking fellow Hogs what THEY think happens. Could really start some conversation going.
Oh, I have the opposite problem...........mine don't get lost in the washer..........mine breed overnight in the laundry basket. Have 3 pairs in there and when I put them IN the washer there are 13 singles.............

Curiously there have been 395 views but very few comments. I think that my title wasn't very exciting and maybe "The Great Washing Machine Mystery" might have attracted more attention.
I have the solution. I sit on top of the machine with my socks on. CAUTION remove before spin cycle
Unfortunately it's not possible to change the title now and to create a new one would mean that it would be deleted as a duplicate.

On the topic listing page, opposite the topic title, there is a small block that lists the topic originator and date & time of the original posting. Below that is a set of two numbers separated by a slash. The first number indicates the number of replies to the topic and the second number indicates the number of views.

For your own topics, just click on "My topics" at the top of the page. It's now up to 499 views.
