Cool photos Mike. I just looked it up and the Billabong Pipe Masters Surf contest is going on right now on the North Shore at Ehukai Beach. I went in 2018 and it was well worth the drive. Probably about 45 minutes from where you are. Get there early for a parking spot or pay one of several independent lots about $10 for the day. Lots of little shops and some really nice outdoor patio restaurants in Haleiwa for when you get hungry or if the surf isn’t up. Just check the Billabong Pipe Masters website in the mornings. They usually start around 10 or 11am.

Thanks, Pete. This information is very helpful because our guests may not be interested and were talking about driving to the North Shore to sight see. If the crowds are like I remember from past trips, I will caution them.

You won’t be sorry. There’s also the Waimea Valley Park on the North shore and a bit further North and East is the Polynesian Center that can take an entire day to explore. On the way to the Pipeline is the Dole Plantation which also has some interesting things to photograph and experience. Good luck and good shooting Amigo!
