I just received the following email from the CEO of B and H. This should clear solutions to the imposed sales tax charged for out-of-state purchase transactions.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Customer,
Everybody likes to save money! I am excited to share B&H’s new way to save
you money.

Last year, the Supreme Court ruled that out-of-state retailers must collect
sales tax on online sales. As a result, on December 5th, B&H will start
collecting tax on shipments to Arizona, as required by state law. We have
been working hard to develop a solution to eliminate the impact of this
ruling on our customers.

Our solution is named Payboo! When you use the new B&H Payboo Credit Card*,
you can save the equivalent of the tax — you pay the tax, and we pay you
back instantly! Make any purchase at B&H with Payboo, and you will receive
an instant reward equal to the sales tax you paid. And at B&H, instant
means instant — no expiring points, credits, or coupons to worry about.
It’s that simple. (B&H collects and remits state sales tax in accordance
with state laws, so all required tax is collected and paid, and B&H issues
the instant savings credit to you.)

Payboo is an exciting store credit card with, we believe, the most valuable
benefit in the industry — the instant credit equal to the sales tax. As
long as you pay your bill on time, you will not incur any interest or other
costs. I invite you to apply today at www.BandH.com/payboo.

I know you have many choices where to buy creative tech gear, and I truly
appreciate your business. With Payboo, I believe B&H will become an even
clearer choice for all your technology needs.

I look forward to a continued great business relationship. Please remember,
at B&H the customer always comes first. That’s why we’ve created Payboo to
eliminate the impact of sales tax for you.

Please visit us today and start saving!

Thank you,
Menashe Horowitz
CEO

Yeah ... Similarly, PayPal now collecting NY sales tax on eBay purchases. (I'm a New Yorker) I was surprised to see the tax added to a purchase with the seller in China !! And on a lens that came from Arizona . . . Started back in July or there abouts. . . A lot of eBay sellers never collected sales tax. Now PayPal is collecting the sales tax - not the seller. I'm moving to a state with lower sales tax. My kids are already there.

I thank you for doing this. I just bought a new camera and was confused by the invoice. I haven't seen a statement yet so am "holding my breath," to see if what you said would happen does.

But, you should in complete honesty, state that the interest rate on your card is very high, if I remember 27%! So I will certainly pay the bill as soon as it is available. I'd love to be able to view my account the way I do for Amex and Visa and MasterCard, and pay for my purchases.

You're welcome. However, I'm a bit confused by your following statement regarding honesty, interest rate, and on-line account information.

I can't find a way to review my Payboo account on line. Thus, I can not see if you have, in fact, credited me for the tax. The invoice is difficult to understand.

I want to be sure I can pay the bill asap, insure that my payment is credited quickly because Payboo's interest rate is the highest of any other of my credit cards. We pay our bills immediately, so we never pay interest.

I chose Payboo to save the amount of the cost of tax. If I used Amex, they automatically double the length of the warrantee, so I sacrificed that warantee and the points for the immediate cash savings. Thus, it is imperative that I receive the bill and pay it so that I am not subjected to the interest rate.

I'd suggest that you contact B and H. I'm sure they have someone there that can help with account issues.

You'll excuse me for pointing this out, Hershel. The Payboo deal is excellent as a way to take advantage of your tax incentive.....as long as the buyer pays off the card before the due date and does not accrue interest charges. Like all cards, however, they make their money through interest. I know, I've sure paid enough of it through the years!! It IS, though, a great opportunity to save those tax dollars for individuals who do pay off the card before the due date.

Steve,

You are quite correct. My personal philosophy regarding credit cards is if I will not be able to pay the monthly CC bill in its entirety then I don't make the purchase. I do buy everything I possibly can with credit cards all month to accumulate miles, points and to maintain a high credit score but pay the bills electronically the moment they come in and never ever carry a balance.

The Payboo card is an excellent way to pay for purchases at B&H Photo (as the accumulation of B&H boxes in my living room will attest) because in addition to the low prices and free shipping I get the equivalent of an additional 8.75% off my final purchase cost which is the amount of the tax here in NYC.

Best wishes for a Happy Holiday Season.

HERSHEL

We don't like autopay. The credit card company already has a lot of personal information. I'd rather not have them have access to my bank information.

This is a great way to save more money. So I do appreciate it, I just am worried about mail turn around time resulting in incurring interest charges with such a high APR.

Then don't mail it. Use your banks bill paying system
