They have returned in full force and I love them! They aren't spooked easily and will pose for you for as long as you need. I wish they stayed here year-long but our climate is not to their liking (nor mine, either.)

Nice shots Katy. I'm surprised they leave in the summer. When I lived in Aptos 25 years ago they were year around residents and nested in the trees behind my house.

Katy, you sure put that 200-500 to good use. Beautiful shots of a beautiful bird. Are these handheld?

Thanks, Curmudgeon. I would bet it's the heat here that drives them away. Aptos is near the water and must be alot cooler than our high nineties and 100's.

Thanks, Raz Theo! I have to rest the lens on something as it is too heavy for me to keep it still. These were taken from a car window. A real drawback for me, but luckily we have several great auto-tours around here. I love the lens, it is amazing, otherwise.
