I use 6.0 and have the stand alone version of Adobe Photoshop Elements both are up to date according to Adobe and when I right click on a file to edit in and select Elements sometimes it works and most often not.
I am using LR 6.1.1 and PSE 11 with no difficulties. When I use PSE 11 I first export the image as a TIF and then continue. I have always done it this way.
The LR6 software should report 6.14 from the Help / About menu inside the software. If you haven't applied all the point-release updates, both RAW camera support and software maintenance are missing from your software. You can no longer get the software to update automatically. But, if you sign into your Adobe account on their site and have your v6 licence key in your profile, you should be able to open a technical support chat and have the technician give you the URL to download the latest / last maintenance update. Be sure to download and save the file prior to execution so you have this available if you need to do an re-install or want to add LR6 to another device. Until you've applied all available updates, there's really nothing to diagnose in how the software operates.

Thanks Paul .....I did not know this as well. Thanks again man !
I was running the stand alone version of LR 6 and it choked on my new D850 raw files. So, I subscribed to LR CC Classic on my iMac for $9.99 per month and I am very pleased with the improved performance. It also includes PS for the desktop and LR Creative Cloud on my iPad. Overall runs noticeably much faster and is updated ongoing by Adobe. The capability to work on a given image across platforms is a plus since I travel a lot. The educational resources Adobe provides are outstanding. It was time to switch to the Creative Cloud and glad I did.

Thank you, Paul. I had a GPU catastrophe on my early 2011 MacBook Pro so I had to find another one. So I found a pristine mid 2015 MacBook Pro retina and later on decided to reinstall Lightroom 6 well you probably know the story nothing worked right. Well all is well now and back to normal so thanks.
