I really like Luminar 4 and have had previous versions as well. I use it both as a stand alone and as a plug-in to Mac Photos and Elements. I do not use the library to organize my pictures but do like the ability to import several pictures at a time to work on and then export. Some of the earlier versions you could only work on 1 photo at a time. I find it easy to work with and and the learning curve not as steep as some applications. I don't use it to process RAW images although it can be used that way but mostly to tweak jpeg's which is what I mostly shoot.

Send your unedited before photo to Jim Nix at nomadicpursuits.com and he can do a video showing how you can do as good a job in 1/10 the time using Luminar 4

I now have Luminar 4, also 3 plus older versions. Am really liking Luminar for it's gentle learning curve. I basically started from scratch. Have not as yet figured out how to move LR files to Luminar. I use a Mac, so I have used Photos for some time using Luminar as a plug in. I haven't added anything to LR for sometime. If I need to go back to an old file in LR ,I correct it with a Luminar plug-in, then export it to Photos. Kinda long work around. Would like to find a simpler way. I would like to move everything into one system. Will be watching this. Surely with the expertise of the hoggers, some one can help us.

It sounds like you may be running LR 6.14--not the subscription. Question: on the MAC have you upgraded to Catalina, and if so, does the LR version still work?

A whole lot of us would like to know the answer to this Catalina/Old LR question and would thank you for a real live answer if you have one. Thanks

Curious whether any UUH’s have made the switch from LR to Luminar (3 or 4) as their stand-alone editing software. Not asking about the use of it as an add-on to LR.

My main concern is the ease or difficulty of moving all of my image files from LR to Luminar. And, will Luminar keep the edits performed in LR? How it is done, etc.?

Any info on the process from someone who has experienced this switch is greatly appreciated.

I don't know if Luminar has a migration tool. I have "Luminar 3" and I also have "ON1 Photo RAW" which does have Lightroom migration.
