As a wedding and sports photographer I don't get out that much for weekend photo treks. Recently though I was able to get away to WV in the Dolly Sods-Seneca Rocks area. These images were taken in mid day with rather uninteresting skies but someday I'll get back in early morning or late afternoon to capture more drama.
Thanks for the nice photos. We were through WV last April before the trees were fully leafed out. It’s a good time to really see the state; as we could see into the woods and off into the distance. I got to photograph
the Glade Creek Grist Mill and New River Gorge Park. I can see by your nice photos that the fall is also a great time. Another nice drive is old US 50 over the mountains.
I love WVA. I don't actually see Seneca Rocks in #1. Where did you take it from?
Seneca Rocks is gorgeous. I hope word doesn't get out how gorgeous it is and make it another crowded tourist experience.

You know that you can climb it or hike to the top, right?

I should have been clear. It was take from the top of Seneca Rocks.
I took the trek up to the top of Seneca Rocks with my young nephew, not know what it was miles linearly and a thousand feet up. Despite not having the right shoes, the water and the hiking poles we needed, it was a nice and memorable trip that I would like to do again. I was exhausted, but my nephew, a third my age and my weight, could have gone up and down again.
Great shots, thanks for posting them.
Nice images Tom and beautiful countrysides!
Popular rock-climbing spot when I was at WVU, I was told that the Army trained men for climbing there during WWII.

Another great fall trip is the West Virginia Highland Scenic Highway. When we lived in N.Carolina, we made the trip almost every fall.
Nice images!
The word “Plains” conjures images of wide sweeping vistas of flat to rolling landscapes. Those WV “plains” certainly ain’t flat, or rolling! Beautiful though.
