Dancing Couple - How Do I Improve It?

I was grabbing People shots at a concert when this lady busted me shooting her from 50 feet away. I smiled and waved and she waved back and kept on dancing. :-)

This is almost a keeper, but I need help. How can I selectively de-emphasize the lady between the couple? I have Gimp, Picassa, and a few others, but don't have Lightroom or Photoshop. How would you crop this to be more effective, or other changes? Please feel free to make whatever changes you want and repost. Thanks for any help.

I once heard Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire tell a interviewer that a dance scene had to show the entire dancing team from the feet to the head! Without that there is no sense of movement, no sense of style. When ever I take pictures of dancers, you get to see the whole dancer. They were the experts!
