Hi Stash - The Eisenhower Farm pic has great composition. How much do you overlap for the stitching?

Eisenhower's family from this area?

I have a pictorial of the ranch Ike visited on his many fishing trips to Colorado. Will post the pics & story soon. Stay tuned.

Eisenhower and his wife Mamie purchased the farm in 1950. It served as a weekend retreat for the President and a meeting place for world leaders, and became the Eisenhowers' home after they left the White House in 1961.

As for the overlapping, I don't go over very much. Just enough to be sure I have enough to join the photos together without a problem.

Taken a few years ago, but one of my better attempts. Taken from a lookout along Tantalus Drive.

I usually overlap at least half a frame per shot to make sure the software has enough info to stitch correctly.

Thanks. Good info.

This may be "stretching" it somewhat; ten images.

here's the grand canyon...12 shots, hand held, in verticle format, stiched with PSE.

I overlap alot! maybe 1/3 image width. I don't know if that's a good or bad idea, but my thinking is give the software lots to work with and never risk a gap that way.

Incredible!!

Crisp and deep DOF! Do you recall shut / f / ISO?

Put up your new panoramic pictures!

There are several older contests & info, but I am interested in new work as well as new techniques, etc.

These are 2 successful samples after several attempts. I am challenged with how much to overlap.

I also overlap about a third. By the way, if your camera can display a 3x3 grid in the viewfinder, that's a great aid to keeping the camera leveled during the shots.

Thanks Dan.

Good idea. That would work better for hand held pan's. Been using the two bubble levels on my Bogan 3047P.

No, but I looked it up...1/2000, f8, ISO 400, Nikon DX 18-200 @18mm, Nikon D7500. This is probably not news to anyone here, but I read a long while back that using vertical format gives higher resolution to a pano because you get more vertical dimension and therefor have to take more images to fill the total width you want to capture. In other words...the total "stiched" file is huge...full-o'-pixels, and retains more resolution than a same-sized image in horizontal format.

BTW..not sure why I didn't use ISO200 and Shutter of 1/1000 instead. Probably would have been even better.

Right - I was referring to hand-held, but didn't so state.

I like your panorama of Honolulu and Diamond Head. I also have a panorama taken on Tantalus Drive, however, it was several years before yours - Aug, 1965. There were a lot fewer high rises and hotels back then. In the lower left is the University of Hawaii.

Your 1965 photo makes an interesting comparison with mine which was taken in 2012 and I have saved your photo for that reason.
