It may not be pretty and sleek, but I bet there are a lot of guys out there who think she is a real beauty. Very nice picture.

Sure do miss seeing them fly over my house when they were stationed at Pope AFB near here.

Used to have a squadron of those at Myrtle Beach AF Base. They would come over our house out in the country at almost treetop levels during training exercises with those engines screaming. Glad the AF didn't abandon the Warthog.

I could never figure out why people called her ugly. She is a mean SOB if you make her mad, and she has saved many of our Airmen and ground troops. I always thought she was beautiful. I guess it depends on how much you love aviation. I still think she is beautiful!

Great aircraft. Government wanted to shut this aircraft down, military fought to save it. I just read where they are refitting all sorts of new electronics to this plane along with new wings and armament. This will keep it in operation for several more years.

Government didn't want to shut this fine acft down it was the air farce (correct spelling), they really don't want anything to do with pounding mud up close and personal. If it was me I'd turn it over to the Army.

We did sorta they were converted AC-47 Puff the Magic Dragon and were also called spooky. The only thing is they didn't fly in da weeds and carried mini guns, although effective and nasty they were not as effective as the Wart Hog....

The sounds coming from this magnificent machine would give Chuck Norris goosebumps.

Love to watch these things fly. While working in Tuscon (many year ago), I had a great view of David-Mothan AFB out my office window. Would watch the pilots practice low level combat manouvers throughout the day. They may look ugly, but they fly gracefully.

Didi anyone else notice the crow flying about the warthog?

Mike
