When I got my OM-D EM5 Mii (I love it) I searched the web and found some articles on setup. I spend a few days reading and setting it up. That helped greatly.

After getting it setup, I recommend start shooting with it.

I am sorry I don’t know of any books on it.

I have one and love it. I downloaded the manual and printed it at Office Depot 8.5X11 so I could read it. Also bought Mastering the Olympus OM-D EM1 by Darrel Young. Also, use lots of sticky note as tabs to re-reference stuff in the book you want to recall. I do not use the video portions of the camera. Hope this helps, keep shooting, Dale

Start off by going through the camera menus using the monitor and make a note of where the items are that you adjust. As you go through you will come across an item that resets the camera to factory default - so you cannot do any harm by changing a few settings just to get used to doing it, resetting and doing it all again. That is the best way of familiarising yourself with your camera. Start with a fully charged battery! If there are items that puzzle you - ask the Hogs. In the Panasonic menus there is a short explanatory narrative above each item. Hopefully the Olympus does similar. This method has worked well for me with several Panny cameras over a ten year period. Nothing can give you more confidence than practical experience. Actually playing with the menus is the best way of becoming at one with your camera.

Darrell Young's book is authoritative and readable--he explains things in clear English. I use it often.

I cannot suggest any tutorials, but must say that I have that camera, and really like it. Also have the em5 mark II and Em5. I am waiting for a really big price drop on the Em1 mark II.

I can appreciate your situation. I just picked up the new OM-D EM 5 Mark III. Depending on from whom you bought your camera you may have classes available. Mikes Camera offers classes at no cost if you purchased from them. Also, You Tube is another asset. The Olympus manual will cover everything you need to know but I've found that is a problem in itself. Too much information.
I've not gone this route but possibly the major camera sales companies my have some instruction manuals.
Good luck and let us know what you came up with please.

Not Ansel.

Yes! Darrel Young has great books for Olympus. “Mastering the Olympus OMD e-m1 Mark II”. I bought his book for my m5 II and it was well written, offered suggestions, and explained what the various options are used for and why you would or would not want to use them. Can’t recommend him highly enough!

Daryl Young’s books are great. I also like Robin Wong’s blog on initial set up.

If you really want to get down and dirty into the minute details of the OM-D E-M1 try Darrell Young's book "Mastering the Olympus Om-D E-M1 Mark II. It is perhaps the most comprehensive reference on the imaging system and is over 500 pages long. He begins with camera setup and controls, proceeds to in detail explain the screen displays, buttons, shooting menus, recording and playback menus. Must read for the new Olympus student.
