Yes, it was quite heavily shadowed, which is a good thing because that's why the detail on the sides of the mountains is so vivid. So I didn't want to lift the shadows globally too much. I did selectively lighten some of them because they were a bit too eye-catching, but I was wary of lightening them too much. Large adjustments are really tricky to get just right because they can necessitate an increase in contrast, saturation and in some cases a WB adjustment to keep them looking normal (or close to). In many cases the shadowing means that the contrast and colour are severely diminished.
The large, deep shadow on the right is from Cul Beag which is just out of frame.
