Jean Lafitte National Park and Preserve located a short distance from downtown New Orleans provides easy access to the swamp. The park is named after the pirate Jean Lafitte who, along with his men, played an important roll in the Battle of New Orleans. I’m trying to improve my skills with landscape photography. Comments and criticism welcome.

That's great. Looks inviting on these cold and dreary late fall days in the north country.

I like all of them. One comment as to number one, which is my favorite. You may have intentionally blurred the background to bring more eye contact to the forefront which is of course fine if intended. I think I might have used a smaller aperture, perhaps f5.6 or f8, possibly even f11, in order to extend the focus all the way through the photograph. Good job regardless.

Thanks for taking a look and I appreciate your comments. Mild weather here. Had to run the AC yesterday.

I agree with you. I think the photo would be better with greater depth of field. It was shot late in the day with fading light hand held. I should have used a tripod with smaller aperture but I left my tripod at home. I could also have raised the ISO to allow smaller f/stop, but I did not think of that at the time. I appreciate your comments because it caused me see the photo with new eyes. I reviewed the camera settings to determine what I could have done differently. I’m glad you liked it and thanks for taking a look.

Really nice series, but again I'm going to go against the consciences I like No. 3.
