I shoot primarily wildlife, and when an image is viewed on the back of my camera the focus spot appears in red. Does anyone have suggestions as to how to view that focus spot in the current version of Light Room or in Photoshop? Thanks and best wishes for a wonderful, safe, and stuffed Thanksgiving!

I use show focus Points plugin for Lightroom, make sure it supports your camera though.

FWIW - while it shows the selected focus point used, it does not show what is in focus...so if you focus and recompose it may not match up.

You can use Nikon's ViewNX for this as an option.

I use the same LR plug-in and it works well...the downside is, it points out the times I fail to get the focus in the right spot...which is all too often...

Dngallagher's point about focus point and what's in focus is a very good and valid point...

Thanks! I was not aware of the plugin, and will download it soon!

Thanks, and I'll get a copy soon. Sometimes it is more helpful to know what you are doing wrong as opposed to what you are doing correctly!

Thanks, but I've become addicted to Lightroom.

Does the Lightroom focus points plug and play have an on/off capability, or on all the time?

I'd like it, if it does.

Just starting to use it. Try it out: it's free! Unfortunately, one of my cameras, a D-7500 is not covered.

It is a plug-in that when you activate it for an image it opens a pop up screen displaying your image with the focus points overlaid, deactivating it removes the pop up window

I found the plug-in tool to be lacking. When I want to know the AF points, I put the original image into the camera manufacturer's software for analysis.

For a beginner like me this may be the most important post I have read on UHH. How many other things are out there to help evaluate our photos and techniques?

Another kudos to the poster who pointed out that the red focus square may not show the actual area focused on if you focus and recompose ! I do this a lot as I use Back Button focusing. Nikon View nx-i shows the focus square, but not on the actual focus point if you focus and recompose.

I have found sometimes better to use a focus mask in photoshop to show what was in focus when the shutter clicked. There is also a focus mask plugin for Lightroom that can be handy

Tried the LR plugin but it doesn't support my camera. I usually want to know the Focus Point on the most recent shots so as a work-around I leave the images on the card for a while and refer to the LCD as needed.
