That's what I was thinking, too, but the price was all-inclusive. Besides, the perspective of the pastor, rather than a tour guide, who took us to many non-religious sites as well would have been a unique experience. Our tour guide was great, though...born in the old walled part of Jerusalem (where he still had family) he was Muslim and Ramadan was during the trip. His wife was from Syria and we ate with here and two of their children near the end of the tour. He only ate between sunset and sunrise. The downside of my pastor's trip would be that there was a huge group (at least 100 form multiple churches). I'm already worried about my tour to Spain next year (could be up to 40 people) whereas my Israel trip was with Overseas Adventure Travel with 14 plus me, the driver and the guide in a small bus.

[quote=planepics] On my other laptop I have a corny pic of myself floating in the slimy. salty Dead Sea. Saw lots of soldiers, but none accompanied us. Also went to Bethlehem and some other places. ]

My wife is a pastor and we had similar trip for a group of pastors. The Dead Sea is slimy, I floated and and the showers were no box of chocolates either.

We stayed at a resort hotel right across the street. I had meant to take a pic of the McDonalds about a block or two away because they had a rotating sign - one side in English and the other side in Arabic or Hebrew. The day I floated, the thermometer at the beach, if I remember correctly, said 104 degrees. I had to tiptoe into the water because it was hotter than a bath. Sad to think that in a matter of decades, there may be no more Dead Sea. We also went on a Jeep lunch tour in the Negev desert. Ate under a huge tree in the middle of nowhere.
