Hi, I have been enjoying reading and looking wonderful pictures. I am not proffesional but sometimes I take good pictures, mostly to paint them.
I am going on vacation to Europe, do you think it wil be wise for me to take RAW pictures? will jpgs will be enough? I am taking my Nikon D80 with an 18-55 lens, shoul I bring my telephoto 50-200? I know it is a lot of questions, but your help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks from Texas
Lercita
Welcome aboard. The RAW vs. JPG question is an ongoing battle for some. My opinion is if you are not going to edit them (and thus not re-save them), jpeg will probably be OK, especially the finer or higher resolution jpegs. If you are going to use photoshop or some other editor on them, especially to tweak the white balance, then shoot RAW. YMMV (your mileage may vary.)
I would take the second lens, as well, because you may not be able to get close to what you want to shoot/paint.
Are you doing oils, acrylics or watercolours?

Well I can do any medium, it depends on the subject, and as far as the photos, probably I wil decide at the moment which format to use, since it is easy to change the settings in the camera, I am coming back in three weeks or so, I will post some pictures then.
Thanks for your advice.
