photoshop cs6: Is photoshop cs6 that much better than cs5 I have tried a trial copy and find it slower. Is it just me or are others having the same problem.

I never ran 5 so I can't compare, but there do seem to be a lot of forum users who think so. Some have what I would consider pretty big honkin' windoz boxes.

I will be interested in hearing what others say. Right now I am debating on whether to upgrade from cs5. My annoyance with cs5 is that it doesn't recognize my lens.....a Nikon 18-300 mm. Haven't checked adobe website to see if I'm need to update cs5.

It's better. The ACR is much better. 3D graphics better. Content aware better. To speed it up make sure you go to help and have it get all the updates. This will update ACR and other parts of CS6. In CS6's ACR it has a much better lens calibration feature and does a fine job at fixing CA and defringing.

There's always an improvement. It's just a question of deciding if you want to pay to get that improvement. If you update every other version, that's probably your best bet - unless they don't give a discount for the second version out.

Today, at least, they seem to want to upgrade back to cs3 (maybe 2). They also are saying that 6 is the last version they'll do that for. Obviously they don't want people doing what you (and I likely) would do is skip a major release or two to save money.

They're probably doing that because they're selling their products at such low prices. I mean you get the basic Photoshop for only $700, and the Exended version for just $1,000. What a deal! :D

I use CS 5. I did the CS 6 free trial and have not upgraded. I could not detect a great difference in content aware. Sometime in both versions it works well, sometimes not.

It might sound counterproductive, but one reason to update is to qualify for the next update. Spend money now to save it later? :?

I don't find it any slower - about the same. The Raw in CS6 is vastly improved over CS5 - I do most of my adjustments there.

Whatever Adobe decides to do, it will not be cheaper or easier.

That's great to know because that is where I do most of my PP, too. If it is any interest, CS6 (just PS plus Bridge) for students and educators is about $250 and lightroomis about $70. I don't use any Illustrator or any web software so this was an attractive price for me.

CS6 has content aware 'move' and CS5 doesn't.
