Went looking for birds, which was not productive. So I took what Mother Nature gave me.

The sky looks not too bad. Maybe some shots focusing on bare trees against the sky would have been interesting.

Just got back from the same location. I believe I have a few of those bare tree shots.

Hard to find a point of focus where my eye rests. Looking from trees to sky to land to wires. I think the composition needs a central point of interest for the viewer. Other than that, a nice documentation of what you saw on your walk.

Thanks for your POV . This how I saw it the puddle was the base the trees as a frame, leading my eyes to the heavy clouds. I am a cloud guy, so that may have an influence on how I viewed the shot.
Photography is a wonderful medium, people can interpret an image in so many ways.

Therein lies the beauty of photography. We all see things differently and we can enjoy photos on many different levels.

There is definitely something to like in that shot. I might try adding it a bit of vignette to the sides and bottom. That could give it a feeling of "inside looking out" with the utility wires aiding that look.

Good thought. I just tried it, and I like the dark vignette. I think it helps the image. I am going to play with this shot as B/W and see if a white vignette works, will also work.

I'm glad it might work for you.

Nice moody image Frank - perhaps a slight increase in the foreground shadows and if possible remove the power lines. BTW, where was this taken?

I thought about getting rid of the power lines, but at the last minute I decided to keep them. I was going for the overcast fall day in NJ. The shot was from Troy Meadows in Parsippany. I think there are 3100 acres to roam.

Your photo, your story but I have to disagree about the power lines. They were the first thing my eyes focused on when I opened the photo. They are just too distracting for me. I didn't even see the puddle until later.

I understand completely. Everyone sees things differently. When I returned to the area yesterday I took some shots of the bare trees without the line.
As for the puddle it’s a good thing I saw it before I took the shot.

I have several examples of that precise location (except for the distant hills) in my location. Your image makes me feel exactly as I feel at those sites on such day!

Dave, I just discovered this area from a guy who saw me taking pictures. He told me about it. I have been back to it three times. As it turns out it is only a few miles from my house. I can see me going back on a regular bases.
