With my G9 I could use the built in focus stacking and take 15 already stacked images to use for an HDR pano.

With the g9 does a single stacked image come out of the camera? JPEG?

On my Canon RP, you can automate focus stacking but you have to stack the images in software later, not in camera, I believe Nikon is also not in camera.

I finally got around to testing the process. Not the most interesting of light or sky, so I went under some trees on a small boardwalk. I shot multiple images, using focus peaking to identify where I was focusing, and using Exposure Compensation to lighten/darken the in-focus bits. (It is another story how LR/PS is messed up by Mac Catalina.) I then moved the 5 shots to PS as layers, auto aligned and auto merged for content. Other than a bit of cropping, the image needed almost no editing. Zains did slightly further lighten the green leaves at the top, but they were already lighter because the leaves were in a close focus part. I got the full depth of field and adjusted the tone for each zone. Probably will not work for all shots depending on how the light is distributed.
