The Valley Railroad, which was founded in 1868, is a heritage railroad based in Connecticut. It operates the Essex Steam Train from Essex, CT to East Haddam, CT (opposite The Goodspeed Opera House) along the Connecticut River. These photos were take by the Hadlyme Ferry, which crosses the river to Gillette's Castle.

I don't know one engine from another, but that fourth picture brings back memories of waiting for my father to get home from work. The engineer and fireman (?) would always wave. At 5 or 6 years old that was exciting.
