Video lights and Flash

Hi,
I have always found flash photography a bit of a challenge and have recently been reading about video lights and panels as an alternative.
I know they give off less light than flash but have considering buying a video panel to fit in the hotshoe or maybe a Rotolight, both for ease of use and hopefully more consistent results.
Does anyone have experience of these lights please?
Thank you

I love them - easier for me with intensity control, color balance knob, and included filters. See what I have versus having to flash, then chimp. And can purchase from 4"x4", etc on hotshoe to those a foot by foot square or larger for separate mounting. I find less hot spots too.

Thank you for your help, could you say which brand and model you use?

Here is last one I bought, largest one for camera I have at around 5"x7" - they are relatively light weight.

Here is a small one I bought to carry in my bag kind of as a fill light - only 3"x3" and uses 4 ea AA batteries so don't have to worry about keeping it charged. Was only $12-13. But if you search they come in all sizes & prices. On Amazon I rely on reviews when buying these unknown brands.

They usually give off more light on average as a flash!
