Coming into a warm building from the cold outdoors, yes, condensation would be a problem. Best to put your camera and lens into a sealed container, such as a couple of 1 gal ziplock bags, before going inside and keeping them there until they thoroughly warm up. Be sure to remove the memory card first so you can download your photos. Going from warm to cold is not a problem as far as condensation but I would give the camera time to acclimate so that the components are not contracting due to the cold while you are trying to shoot.

There are two issues:

1. Condensation when bringing cold lens into warm area - put camera in ziplock bag till it warms up.

2. Possible condensation if camera is sitting outside for a long time while shooting. Look into devices called lens warmers or dew heaters.

Condensation occurs when the dew point is reached and related to temperature and humidity and can occur at any time of year. On trip to Monument Valley around the Winter Solstice I came out to find my camera coated in ice from a long time exposure. I had done some other time exposures that night without a problem, but at some point either the temperature dropped or the humidity increased resulting in condensation that froze. The camera wasn't brought out into a higher or lower temperature as I was camping with similar temps.

UHH has a forum for this that may be a better place to ask.

You will likely need something like this to keep the lens warm during night shots:

Condensation is an issue, as others explained. Here is one solution that I use:

Biggest problem with astrophotography is dew fogging lens. I use heat stamps 12v. Go to camping rv store/online but 12v hair dryer and gently hit front of lens
