I'm hoping to find a computer monitor that is good for editing photos and video at a low cost - if possible.
I want to use 2 of them and I'm estimating the size I will want is 24".

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Make sure you look at the video connectors on your computer first.
Mine computer is old? and has DVI-A and DVI-D connectors.
I had to replace monitor number one recently. New monitors seem to be VGA and HDMI compatible.
LUCKILY I found a DVI-D to HDMI cable.
Monitor two is on a DVI-A to VGA adapter connector.
(One monitor is an Acer and the other is an HP, both 23's. (I just get monitors. ))

Not possible - you can good or cheap but not both. You fail to provide what you are willing to spend.

There are many out there, especially the TVs that are being replaced by next year's model. The price runs a wide gamut.

The problem is the accuracy of colors in the monitor/TV. That you will have to decide. As noted, the connectors are to be a consideration. I am using a Vizio (a generic brand name) 24". It has 4 connectors. TV, Comp, RGB, HDMI. I use HDMI with the computer strictly for photo processing. I have adjusted the color controls for the result to give me a good idea of the "print" colors. The RGB is for my laptop's second monitor.

Shop around by going out to see the various monitors/TVs on display. Get as much information about the available controls on the sets. And their connectors. And choose the one that fills your need.

Bon voyage.

PS., Another item to consider is the graphics card in the computer. I put in a card into my "Photo" Computer. I use the on-board graphics on the laptop.

Good and inexpensive is an oxymoron unless waiting in a line for 12 hours on Black Friday.

Stay away from gaming monitors ... designed for speed ... not color.

Frankly, get a mid tier monitor.
I think the entire issue is a mess in the digital world.
I have a monitor, and pp ... I send to you. Your monitor is different .... you will see a slightly different image.
I send out to social media ... everyone is not actually seeing what I am seeing.

Go middle of the road ... unless you anticipate making a career out of it in the present tense.

(Just look at all the TVs on display in a store. They are not all identical.)

I guess a better way to frame my question would have been:

What's some monitors I should consider that would produce good results (not for commercial business) that are at the lower cost spectrum for their class?

or

What's the lowest cost monitors you would recommend?

Some good info here as well for me to consider. Appreciate the advice.

To save money I buy used one. Get one of those with 1920x1200 resolution. You don't need higher resolution but those that are 1920x1200 are generally better than the 1920x1080.

You are shopping at a good time as Black Friday deals are everywhere.

If you are willing to settle for a 27 in there are may available for a decent price. I would look for a IPS monitor. As it would have LCD image with LED backlighting. this is the best for working with photographs IMHO. I just bought one on Amazon for 129.00. I do want a second one but I will have to wait. BTW do not go the TV route, you will be disappointed, again IMHO.

What about IPS Ultrawide?

Some people have recommended them instead of dual monitors for a DAW monitor. Would these be good for photo/video editing?
