These are a few of the many photos I took at the thirty-second (2019) "Mississinewa 1812” reenactment. This event takes place at the historic battlefield on the Mississinewa River north of Marion, Indiana, in Grant County and celebrates the battles fought at this site December 17-18, 1812. The combatants were the British and Indians on one side and the American army/local militia on the other. This three-day October festival is the largest War of 1812 celebration in the country, and includes not only a reenactment but also includes replica military encampments, an Indian village, traditional crafts, and living history of the life and times. Participants actually spend the three-day weekend living at the encampment wearing period clothing and living as their ancestors did, regardless of the weather. Altogether, there are over 150 specific sites besides the battlefield, staging areas, etc. There are hundreds of active participants from all over the Midwest. This was my first visit, but I don’t plan on it being my last one. Next year’s dates are October 9-11 if any Midwesterners are interested.

Brilliant set John, and I like you mono choice which adds a touch of nostalgia?
Geoff
Your use of B&W helps to add realism. Too bad many actors are wearing modern glassware :) nice set though.

Great set.
My downfall is getting into conversation with many of the very knowledgeable folks who are up on their history of interest.
Very nice set John - looks like a great event!
Terrific series John and the B&W is perfect for these images!!
Thanks, Geoff. That was the idea. I was going to add a bit of brown tone, too, but didn’t.
