Wallen Loc: Middle Earth

A scene in the park captured my attention. It was a kids tricycle left behind and the owner watching other kids much older than he is playing football. It was a picturesque moment and i hurriedly took a shot. The first image below is a crop of the original photo. There were minimal adjustments as i was able to compose it well.

It became one of my favorite photos and i always look back into it. After some time, i slowly realize that it was not really showing the moment and feeling that i saw. That lead me to edit the image visualizing my thoughts about it.

Titled "Play with Me", It is a toy asking to be played, a child wishing to play with the older youths, and the person playing football asking for attention as he kick the ball and the other person looking away un-interested.

This was my initial Output. I made the child bigger to increase his presence and also to make him appear closer thus enhance the idea that he is watching the others and eyesores are removed. Although better, it still did not convey my vision


More than a year later, the composition is further simplified and improved by removing Player E. Of them all, this is the most pleasing. Even small adjustments can vastly change composition as shown in the last image.


Above with breathing space, the bike is the hero. Below, with the child closer to the bike, The 3 elements became more integrated thus removing the pause between elements. It is no longer the bike then the child but almost together as one element
