Why Thank You jimcrna, and yes, these are my first attempts. I wanted to see if you-all have any advice about how to go about doing this before tackling it again.
Thanks also to yssirki23, In-lightened, and PattyW60 for your comments and encouragement.
I too like the first on best. The girl's feet seem planted on something solid, like they are actually walking on the Milky Way.
Separating images from their background is, at best, tedious, frustrating and time consuming. The latest PS update, 20.0.1, makes it amazingly easy to cut complex images out of backgrounds. Adobe offers Photoshop on a 30 day free trial. You obviously have good PS skills already and you will be amazed at the latest tool. If you don't like it cancel after the free trial is up.
I look forward to additional posts as you and the girls continue on the journey.
These are very cool images - so creative and expressive! I would love to do this but I just can't think of anything as interesting as what you have come up with!
Thanks so much for your encouragement. The first background I tried out was out of focus green grass, and that just didn't cut it!
What an imaginative idea! The first image is a stunner, it took me a moment or two to realize exactly what the girls were running on. Keep at it; I'd really like to see more. You might look at and try for free Topaz MaskAI.
Thanks for the suggestion Howard. I have the basic Topaz group, and read about the maskAI, but went back and was able to do a better job using my older version of PS, and got a decent cut-out. It just took a lot of time. Since I don't do this often, I decided to wait on downloading the trial of Topaz MaskAI until perhaps I attempt something similar. Thanks for the suggestion.

The best results for a composite occur when the cutouts are perfect; making the cutouts is where the real work is.
You are right there Howard5252. Making the cutouts is dicey.

I recommend TOPAZ Remask5; I like it better than MaskAI. I hope there will be some improvements coming soon to MaskAI.

Agreed! Remask 5 does an amazing job on masking for sky replacements. Also check out Luminar 4 - their AI Sky Replace function is simple and very effective in most applications.

Luminar 4 is a "One trick pony"; it cannot be used to cut out a subject ... it can only replace sky.
