Based on the last shot, I'd guess young Cooper's... but then maybe or not, but I do think it's one of the two?

Here's a good video to confuse us even more:

It crashed into my house early today and wondered about my yard in a dazed state for over four hours. I feared that it was never going to recover but it did, and flew away.

I never know what I'm going to see in my yard. This time I was able to open the window and get a unobstructed view of it.

Some of my friends might think it strange that I keep my 600mm f/4 lens on my camera at all times. This is why. I took over two hundred of it as sat there shaking it's head and blinking it's eyes.

It looks like a hawk of some sort. Can anyone tell me more?

Thank you.

Dave, your question pops up many times with the immature versions of a Cooper's Hawk and a Sharp-shinned Hawk. Thus, the "tail configuration, tiny head and beak", in comparison, make this a definite IMMATURE Sharp-shinned Hawk.

I looked back at many good photos I have of it's face. I can see nothing that looks like a white eyebrow.

These hawks are common in Colorado and often run into windows chasing smaller birds.

My best suggestion is a Sharp=shinned hawk. A red tail is considerably larger than this hawk appears.

Did you look real close? If it doesn't have a mustache it's a stool pigeon.
