I have quite a few Cardinals visiting my feeders. Some beautiful young cardinals that sit in the trees waiting there turn to approach the feeder which makes for some nice pictures. I also made a perch next to the feeder which and coax them to it by drilling holes in branch and placing seed in it works very nice.

Beautiful shots, Jerry.

These really good takes on those Cardinals and thanks for the tip on putting the seeds in the limb to attract them into view. I like what you did here.

Very nice collection of cardinals - I personally think the females have more interesting coloration which shows up better than the solid red of the males.

Great feeder photos. Several years ago we had several feeders in the back yard that attracted a number of different varieties of birds. Then came the mice and rats for the dropped seeds. And then came the snakes for the mices and rats. And then my wife in her style said "Those feeders are gone NOW!"

Great captures! We have an abundance of cardinals, blue jays and robins this fall...all very common to area but all beautiful birds.

Very nice work Jerry. Especially like #1 and #6. Good technique. Really sharp.

Very nice images.
#4 seems to have lost its tail feathers. We had one here a few years back that seemed to have lost its tail feathers also.

The puffed up female is sweet

I have a pair of Cardinals in my vicinity, but the are very shy and uncooperative. They sometimes come to the feeders. I wonder whether I should use a different bird food. Are you using anything special to bring them in? Great shots, I like the last one the best.

The best seed is black sunflower seed. Also safflower seeds, but those are a lot more expensive. Don't waste money on the mixed seeds--birds will usually just throw out the tiny ones they don't want, so you pay a lot per pound for waste. I get my bags of sunflower seeds by the 50# bag (that pounds not twitter) for about $17 from my local hardware store. I have 7 feeders scattered around the back yard and find that those $12 red hexagon plastic feeders from Lowes are the best. I also have a tube feeder that the yellow finches seem to find more popular and I use a funnel to fill it. Enjoy the sunflowers that come up from the seed droppings too.
