But...just a bit overexposed. The top part of the bird's white feathers are absolutely glowing.
If you used an auto setting it likely metered on the water and background which overexposed your whites.
It you shot these at high noon that could have contributed.

Thanks! I really appreciate your observation! I agree and almost didn't post these because of it. I shot at least three dozen and they were all like this. It was bright sun ( about 2:00 pm). I was shooting TV at 800, iso auto, aperture was 5.63 - 7.1. I went back to the same spot yesterday to try manual settings but he was not around.
