Loc: The Gopher State, south end
Well, not so much a river as a small creek. We needed a better crossing than where we had been crossing as it had steep banks that the supply truck could not negotiate. The one-three crew found this spot with level banks on each side and actually got out and walked the ground before driving across. Only they didn't make it. Once they left the hard bank the tank just sank, straight down 5 feet. The only way to get it out was pull it out from the rear which meant digging down to the tow hook before we could attach a cable and drag it back out of the creek.
And this is how we spent the morning, digging.
Taken somewhere west of Pleiku along Hwy 19. The camera was the famous Kodak Instamatic.

Great story in the images!!!
Thank you for your service.
"I don't understand what happened" " I walked it" statement I heard many time on construction sites when heavy equip or dump trucks got stuck.
But in these cases you didn't have to worry about somebody using you for a target.
Really enjoyed going over this series...many thanks for sharing with us and for your service to our country!!
Lol Looks like a good time was had by all ! Thank you for your Service !
