As you'll discover when you see the movie and/or read the book (or various other books), the team trickery and deceitful behaviour doesn't make a good advert for Ford.

< snip > The movie takes a number of liberties - without which the movie wouldn't have been half as exciting - and was really excellent, very much worth seeing. The politics were a disgrace though.

Politics? In international motor racing? I'm shocked. SHOCKED!

I think it has been ever thus. I remember a story that in the '30s, when Auto Union and Mercedes were the duelling giants in Formula 1 racing, AU managed to get the governing body to change the formula for the upcoming season but kept the change secret until there wasn't enough time for Mercedes to change their cars in time for the season start. Or maybe it was Mercedes that pulled the fast one on AU.

Point is, auto racing has always been a game with dirty tricks being played by and on the participants. I'll bet NASCAR has a few stories of their own . . .

As for the movie, I know the story pretty well, but I'm still looking forward to seeing it.

The sound of the Ford V8 in two Mustangs I have owned is a beautiful sound. You do not need to turn your head to see what car is approaching. Thanks for sharing your beautiful story. I will visit the movie.

"US-designed" LOL.

Apart from the engine, all "Ford" GT40s are a design by Englishman Eric Broadley
modified from his MkVI Lola.

As well as that, Eric Broadley originally designed that Lola for
a Ford power plant.

I know I'm gunna get flack for slaughtering that sacred cow,
but I can't stand reality being trampled.

To be good at cheating, is considered a virtue in motorsport.

To this day, that Ford GT 40 is still one of the most beautiful cars ever built! ❤️

Not that I dislike NASCAR, in fact I'm impressed by NASCARs and NASCAR drivers,
I reckon it's one hell of a formula. It's just that I really know very
little about NASCAR apart from most the time, they only turn left, consequently the
suspension/steering geometries are asymmetric, and they run at sustained high speeds
at and beyond the limits of traction... Awesome!

So I sure as heck won't be telling anyone about where the best NASCAR frames are built...
as I don't have a clue... if I had to bet though, I'd put a dollar on Moorseville North Carolina.
