Excellent, Graham. Don't know what to attribute it to, but there is depth to the setting and I feel drawn right into the image. Was the camera at waist level to create that effect?

Thanks, I think the road markings and the kerbstones contribute to the impression of depth. I believe that I would have be kneeling to take the shot.

The shot is sharp all the way through. When the DOF softens a background it implies that the background isn't of major importance. When it's sharp as in this photo the eye is led into the shot and left to explore.

That sounds very reasonable....

This is excellent in so may ways. First, your composition, placing the women as your main interest but keeping the background in focus to complete the story. Your lower position while taking the picture gives one feeling of being there in the moment. Last but not least is the quality of the Black and White. Your whites are not blown out and your blacks are solid black, as they should be, making for perfect contrast. So many published B&W photos are flat this is not. Great job Graham!

Thanks for your kind and insightful comments Jim. A complete tonal range is something I always try to achieve where applicable. Another thing I strive for is good tonal separation. Getting the colour version right for B&W conversion is essential to this, the Black and White Mix sliders in LR are a great aid after conversion.

This is a great shot. I really like how you placed the girls in relation to the rest of the scene. Nice title, too!
