I have purchased 100’s of items from Amazon and had no problems.

I now see a “Amazon Renewed” Panasonic bridge (FZ2500) camera at $688 ($300+ below new retail.

It is sold and shipped by a third party (who gets quite high reviews - The Pixel Connection. Has 90 day warranty. I am a bit wary, but would sure like to save that kind of $$.

A steal or too good to be true??

Amazon will back it up with their return policy, so you really can't go wrong.
Buy it, try it. If it doesn't work or is in bad shape, return it.

This is from "Amazon Renewed", not a third party:

I know Amazon tests cameras sold to them but not sure about cameras sold through them...
It would be safe to buy with 90 day warranty.. is that warranty from Amazon or from Pixel Connection ?
When you receive your camera and realize that it is not what you expected in terms of condition, performance or you found a better price.. you can return it to Amazon, they will provide you with RMA #..
You will still pay for the return shipment.

I believe the warranty is via The Pixel Connection.

I don't see it being from a third party, I see it being sold and backed by "Amazon Renewed".

Amazon is above every other online retailer I have used, regarding customer service.
I have never had a bad purchase experience buying from Amazon.

It is not a bargain if it is something you don't need.

If you need it, go for it with confidence. Amazon returns are easy - even third party items. I dropped an return item off at a local Staples shipping center and the refund came through during my drive home. You can now drop returns at Kohl's Department Store and Kohl's will give you a $20 coupon for anything in the store.

I wonder exactly what "Certified Refurbished" means. Who, exactly did the renewing? What was renewed? "...inspected and tested by Amazon-qualified suppliers" doesn't tell me much.

"The refurbishing process includes functionality testing, basic cleaning, inspection, and repackaging." This sounds more like used than refurbished.

I think it's just another new word for used. Like no one has problems they have issues.

From the listing:
"This Certified Refurbished product is tested and certified to look and work like new. The refurbishing process includes functionality testing, basic cleaning, inspection, and repackaging. The product ships with all relevant accessories, a minimum 90-day warranty, and may arrive in a generic box. Only select sellers who maintain a high performance bar may offer Certified Refurbished products on Amazon.com"

In short, similar to an E+ rating or like new rating on a used camera sales site.

"About Amazon Renewed
Amazon Renewed is your trusted destination for pre-owned, refurbished and open-box products.

Products sold on Amazon Renewed have been inspected and tested to work and look like new by an Amazon qualified and performance managed supplier who is either the seller of record, when that is not Amazon.com, or a third party vendor, when Amazon.com sells products that it sources from third party vendors.

The suppliers, who may be qualified manufacturers or specialized third-party refurbishers, must meet strict criteria to be able to sell on Amazon Renewed and meet ongoing performance targets. For details, please check the supplier or product details as well as the product packaging.

The inspection and testing process typically includes a full diagnostic test, replacement of any defective parts, and a thorough cleaning process carried out by the supplier, or by Amazon. The products have no visible cosmetic imperfections when held 12 inches away. The products may be packaged in a generic box and come with the accessories expected for a new product, with exceptions, if any, mentioned on the product detail page.
Note: Wireless devices do not come with headphones and have batteries tested to have at least 80% capacity relative to new at the time of sale".
