Well, I get the idea, but the photo is derivative and pedestrian, as well as a compositional jumble. However, it does have a story, recalling for me many establishments I've been in, near closing in downtowns, especially New York. People peopling are pretty much the same.

Thank you Bob, your written critique is much appreciated

I actually really love this shot. The waitress’s face is sharp, the look on the customer’s face perfectly matches the title, and even though it’s a bit busy, that can easily be corrected.

It works for me.
(On a personal note - tipping culture does not appeal to me at all.)

Over here we tip only when the service exemplary, when the service goes beyond what one would normally expect.

I have been reading about the terrible bush fires raging in your area Richard. Stay safe.

Nice image!!!
Looks like he got up on the wrong side of the bed.
I tip according to the service rendered and have upon two occasions explained why I gave NO tip.
One of my first jobs was as a Carhop in a drive in restaurant , and my take home pay relied on the Tips, my base pay was $1.00 per day/night plus a meal.

That’s a good capture, Graham. Am I the only one who sees the irony of a “large” man drinking a Diet Coke?

Some say this is a busy photo, but it’s street photography. One necessarily takes the surroundings along with the shot. In the street category, the surroundings, busy or not, often make the photo.

Thank you John. He is obviously on a calorie-controlled diet

Graham I like your photo, the blurred background, the area around what is going on and the faces of both the man sitting and the waitress. People are talking about a tip but why not the payment for the Coke. The man seems to be somewhat angry and the waitress doesn't seem to care so long as she is paid.

I do see the Diet Coke for a large man but as someone who is overweight myself I drink Diet Pepsi simply because I like the taste over a regular Pepsi.

Well done picture,

Dennis

I like this shot, Graham. I think it's beautifully framed. And I really like the clarity of (particularly) the face of the waitress and the separation of the players from the background.
