I just received an offer from Adobe Systems to buy CS6 for $299, which is a $400 discount, exclusively for Photoshop Elements owners.
If you are in the market, go for it.

Do I understand that CS6 is not compatible with max osx 10.5.8 and one has to have a later operating system mac osx 10.6 + ? Anyone know this.. I have purchased snow leopard and lion but have not installed as my mac desk pro is running great at 64 bit with mac osx 10.5.8... Have to create more work for myself... ;=) with compatibility issues.

Thanks for the update on the pricing... ;=)

Actually starting to feel I should have not sold my fishing boat and tilt trailer.... it is not much different than photography today... can throw lots of money at it.. if not careful... Thoughtfully thinking of upgrading or letting the "young experts tune up my desktop mac pro.. really a server "

It is not just the operating system. CS6 for the Mac needs a computer with a multicore Intel CPU with 64-bit support as well as Mac OS X v10.6.8 or later.

And a good high end graphics card or you loose out on the processing engine that was redesigned to make CS6 fast. If you load a picture in CS6 and you see your picture with part of the background showing you would need to change the options in property:

Hello
The only difference between CS6 and CS6 extended id the 3D feature,.....thats all. Other than that ALL features are identical.
If you are not interested in 3D, theres no need for the extended version.
Just wanted to offer that as general info for everyone.

If they are both available for the same price to you,....then its a good deal to get the extended.

I have an 8 core ( 2 quad cores ) x 3.2 Ghz Intel Xeon using leopard 10.5.8 mac osx version operating system and I do run 64 bit programs primarily. But it seems I need to upgrade to newer version of Mac osx operating system to utilize CS6 ... I will probably have an "expert" ;=) assist me on this if I do not pack the mac pro desk top to the Apple desk... I use CS5 extended and Light Room 3 primarily with various plug in suites from NIK and OnOne, etc.. Things are running smoothly so have not upgraded though I have purchased the mac osx operating system upgrades... just have not taken time to do these upgrades... Life keep moving on... I have heard of smooth upgrades ( which I have always had ) albeit, I recently have heard of some compatibility issues with hardware and software...

As part of the discussion goes....
" It's not something between us - it's just a bug in the NVidia drivers. And without someone who can reproduce the bug helping them, NVidia isn't likely to get it fixed. (and we can't fix it for them)

That is alright, but giving a person that calls your help desk (I spoke to an India representative for over 2 hours) the information on something they could try is better than what your help desk was doing to me, and just finally after a couple of hours he blamed third party plug-ins and just gave up:
Case:
Your Adobe ID:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Your Case Number:xxxxxxxxxxxxx

He had me do all kinds of modifications to my PC that I still have not recovered from, told me it was my upgrade, and then when nothing panned out told me that it was the third party plug-ins and that Adobe does not support third party plug-ins, therefore I should uninstall them and uninstall Photoshop CS6 then reinstall CS6. I might have bought this story had it been that when I installed CS6 I did not have the plug-ins installed and CS6 was acting this way (ok the GPU).

Now wouldn't it have been better for me and him if he had this information and would have told me that it may be your driver for your graphics card and here is one way to get CS6 to work if you can't resolve your graphics card or driver?

I think he and I would have had a more positive experience don't you agree? " end of part of the discourse... ;=)
