Title "Oh Yeah--you and whose army?"

Double barrel break action. Breech was open, clearly no shells in it, all ammunition is locked in a cabinet (in another building), and the only head was mine. Statement from a woman and of course my own experiment with depth with aperture wide open. Please just see that we are having fun

I look down enough barrels when I was in the military I wish you people would stop with the stupid guns

I've never really understood the thinking about guns and photography that seems to pop up here with regularity. I've read posts that have said this kind of photography should not be done because you should NEVER point a gun at anyone if you weren't planning on shooting them with it.

This process is a creative art, and though we might not agree about whether something is good or bad art, it's still art in the mind of the creator. If we adhere to the philosophy of NEVER pointing a gun at a person unless we're planning on shooting them, then that would eliminate virtually EVERY western, war, or gangster themed movie that has ever been made. They are art forms, just like other forms of image capture. I'd love to hear an opinion that logically defends the removal of those products from our culture.

A logical answer does not exist in a world of emotional questions.

The question is not an emotional one. In all likelihood, however, the answers will be.

I am referring to the point of view of the viewer. A self-introspective scenario. Many see the weapon as the threat, not the person handling the weapon.

(Note. This is a topic that is still wildly argued in Psychology circles.)

If this is true, then those who are uneasy with a gun pointed to a model in these scenarios will also be uneasy watching an old western, a war or gangster movie? That would be hard to believe. There is something else at play here.

I would like the image better if the young ladies eyes were in focus. But it still works.

OK it is a light hearted look as a serious subject. The lady involved is one of the "Me Too" cadre and like all the others she says "NEVER AGAIN!" We discussed the how of saying that in no uncertain terms and thus the picture. This shot does have a purpose and you just have to know the story, I guess.

By the way I have never met a stupid gun but met some stupid people using them.

That is the problem with generalizations. Like many other conditions, it is an error to work for a simplified one size fits all definition.

The quick answer to your question above is "Yes, but in varying degrees dependent on the individual".

[Sorry. The following is for the originator of the thread.]

This issue will take too many pages to even gather a consensus. As for the specific one in this thread, you are conflating several concepts to move your contention forward . What most people see are two barrel points in a photograph. Their personal experience will color their interpretation. However, the fact that it is a photograph will not be ignored by the majority. Though there are those few who even want to ban paper "guns" that some kids play with.

As for your topic heading, I think "Stick 'em up!" would have been more appropriate. As for the intended discussion, the folder that is for other than photography forum.

Another possible scene: "You get back to the altar!"

Ok--enough of the political stuff. Those who don’t like it should just go sulk somewhere and understand that not everyone agrees with them. The title clearly states that there’s a gun in the photo. If those kinds of things bother a person, why did he look in the first place, other than to start an argument?

I think this is an excellent photo: Well done, and I enjoyed seeing it.
