Well, I've been 'fraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around Aperture
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm gettin' older, too ...
I am sorry I migrated in 2014. Manually. It was painful. I do not know anything about Avalanche.
However my advice here is to make sure you have backup copies of your Aperture library before unleashing any software on it.
Looks like interesting software. Perhaps it is possible to only migrate a few images first? Then, you would have first-hand knowledge of how well the program works. Or, perhaps call them and chat? The company would know much better than any of us how things might turn out. Just a thought.

That is an excellent idea.
Create a test catalog with copies of selected images, masters and versions, different amounts of retouching, some using plug-ins etc, and different metadata, ratings, keywords, color labels etc. Run the software on the test catalog first.
And if you decide to proceed run the software on sections of your catalog, not the entire library at once.
And ALWAYS have a backup.
Being right in the middle of recovering deleted photos and data, I have to say it as others above me have said it. Make a backup, keep it in another location so you can't quickly and easily access it. I'll let all of you know how the "recovery" project progresses!

Good one! That always was one of my favorite songs.😀
I had thousands of photos in Aperture and they all migrated to Photos, (the new Apple photo processor), very easily. They are still in RAW format. I hope that helps.

Thanks. From within Photos, if necessary for some shots, can you use a more capable editor like luminar?
Sorry, I have no idea. I was simply grateful that I was able to resurrect all the photos out of aperture and get them into a program that would make them accessible again.
