I am a tomato fancier, but have a really tough time getting good results for some reason. I have read and applied all the topics I can find, and still my plants struggle to produce a good return for all the tender care I provide. This past summer, I tried the hybrid kind in pots, same result. Except this year, one of the plants produced a volunteer plant late in the season I have been nursing this one ever so caringly. The photo shows that I may yet get a decent tomato. I have been bringing this plant in at night to protect against the freezing temps we are now getting, and it looks like the tender care may pay off.

I plan to celebrate tomorrow night with my absolutely fav meal, a BLT piled high with crispy strips of applewood smoked, thick-sliced bacon, juicy home grown tomato, and crisp lettuce, slathered in Mayo!

My mouth is starting to water already.

Nothing more satisfying than creating your own of which you most enjoy! By the way try the nitrate free bacon out there today, I think it tastes much better than standard bacon if you get it fresh.

Mine too. Next season, try to grow some bacon plants in pots.

Try Sun Sugar cherry tomatoes. They are the best we have found. The root system on this variety is amazing, probably averaging 6 feet in length whereas others are about 2 feet. Yes, we've added lots of organic material to the soil enabling plant growth. Not the best for BLT's, our Nebraska Wedding variety dominates that delicacy.

Oh man, let me know when you put the bacon on and get the tomato sliced. I’ll grab a quick flight down and join you. The BLT is my all time favorite sandwich. Lightly toasted.

Oh, and I like your pic, too. 😄

Tks Guardineer, cherry tomatos are not my favs. I like the big boy, big gitl type, big, juicy ones.
