Very nice. I was in the Army. Will I be invited to the birthday party?
Sampler Fi. My oldest son did 2 tours in Iraq, as a Marine.
A Marine in our work group would always bring in a cake on the Marine Corp birthday. On our morning break, with great ceremony and respect, he would cut the cake with his KaBar and dispense those slices to all his co-workers. We would then all stand sing the first verse of the Marine Hymn with him before enjoying the birthday cake with our coffee. His, and our, way of showing our appreciation for the Corp and those who serve.

Three weeks ago. I was at a retirement lunchen for my brother.
At my table there was this ole guy. He was in pretty good shape. He was 97 years old. A WW2 jarhead he also did a stint in Korea.
Semper Fi.
My Godfather was a WW2 Marine. His first battle was Guadalcanal and last was Okinawa.
My Dad was Navy, Coral Sea to Okinawa.
What a tough generation.
And they never spoke about it.

My Dad, a WW II vet, told me that the ones who told no war stories were often the ones who had the most to tell.
Traderjohn & his fellow Marines,
Congratulation on the USMC birthday! π
Here is a bit of history trivia for you:
Many long years ago, shortly after the Marines were established, the Defense Department was trying to allocate resources in a fair unbiased manner. So they decided to use a coin flip between the Army and the Navy. The Navy lost, so we got the Marines because the the Army picked the Mules!
No need to thank me for the history leesson; it was my duty!! πππ
Cheers,
Don, USN (retired)
Our family had Army, Navy and Air Force officers among its numbers over the WWII, Vietnam and Sandbox generations, and my daughter finally married a Marine a couple of weeks ago. So I feel like we're now pretty much complete. (No offense intended to the Coast Guard or Merchant Marine.)
I think I posted to u by mistake. Need to learn how to post.
