My phone goes off at 3:25pm. On the other end is a friend who says HELP. Seems this very sweet girl was getting married. She is a recovering addict (I do some work in that endeavor). Her boyfriend asked her to get married and they decided it would be good to do on the second anniversary of her being clean. Only thing was this was Wednesday evening and the date was Saturday. The person who was to take pictures bailed with the wedding at 4:00. I live right at 8-10 minutes from the church. Grab a couple of things and head out the door.
The church has indirect lighting from some lights in the upper corner next to a 30ft white ceiling. I did bring a couple of 4ft umbrellas but quess what? The mount for them would not lock. Down to 5 minutes before show time. Raised up the 12.5 stand to their highest and pointed the flashes at the ceiling.
With a little more time think it would have gone better and would have brought better lighting.
As a side note she is a very sweet person. Has been through a lot. Not to intimidate anyone but, she has a physical job working with lumber (I think). In an arm wrestling competition I would bet on her. He is no slouch either. Glad it would take some hard looking to find anyone more kind and gentle than they are.
Good job, bet that's one proud "Father of the bride"!
Glad you were able to be there for them on the bid day.

Rick, You are an outstanding guy to do what you did for the family. Your images will provide the beauty of the day for future years.
I thank everyone for the kind words. Truth is though it started out as wish I had the time to do it right. They deserve it. This type of stuff is not what I am best at. Addiction and the pull of it is so very strong today. Knowing them I do believe they will make it. Just two more pulled from abyss.

Yea buddy !, 'if had known then, I wish I had time, I wish I had pre-thought before' all these things, If I had a dollar for every time it happened to me, well, I could buy every Caribbean island and live rich fat and sassy. You did good sir, you did good. And they will look back and appreciate your stepping up getting what you did. Ya dun good sir.

This is the beauty of photography. to capture a moment in time that may is beyond us to appreciate who others past us will cherish.
PM me if you want to fight.
Please, keep this thread clean.

Maybe you don't known what real America's greatness is. It small things like the person taking the pictures of people and not want anything in return. It not in the past it alive and doing well today.

Dude;
that is EXACTLY what I was talking about. I have found that on this site that I is that if I do not explicitly explain what I was expressing, that some people just do not get it.
Let us leave this debate to a PM issue if you wish. We need to let them alone beyond our opinions.
All I was stating was this is a beautiful post.
If you want to bring something else into it, bring it on buddy. But let us PM it and remove the poop from this lovely expression of an event a member shared with us.

Maybe we could discuss ht e power that flashes have today. Imagine lighting a church sanctuary with a couple of flashes. I was frantic when I couldn't get the umbrellas up so pivoted. I never in my wildest dreams thought it would work. How about accolades for the equipment of today that could pull our fat out of the fire.
You’re a good friend. Good job👍
