Decided to convert some Kodachrome and Ektachrome slides from the 80s and 90s to digital, using an ES-1 slide adaptor on my D7000 with a manual 3.5mm micro and a 20mm extension tube.

What is your light source ? ... what you did looks great. I have an old Nikon slide scanner I bought about 15 years ago ... it is slow ... I averaged about 10 to 13 an hour ... when a slide was being scanned ... I was doing photo tweaking on the prior scanned slide with Photoshop ... the results are great .... bu I have a lot more slides to do.

Thanks. Just pointed the camera handheld at a desk lamp with a 75 watt bulb. These were some off the first conversions. One advantage is don't have to worry about camera shake whatever the shutter speed because everything moves together. Planning to set the camera on a tripod pointing at a light so I can do them more quickly, but my progress has been slowed because the projector I was pre-screening them on broke. Like you, have a lot more to go.

Thank you for your reply. I have a D7100 I bought in 2012 and also their 60 mm micro lens and a zoom lens I bought around 1991 when I had a N90 film camera. I started with Kodachrome slide film in 1962 when my grandfather gave me his Argus C4.

Meant to say it's a 55mm F3.5.

They look good but hard to say without originals to compare them with. I'm getting ready to start the same project with a bunch of medium format slides. I hope it goes well because I have some very nice slides.

With winter coming I figured I would have time to copy some slides. I have a Lume Cube coming tomorrow from Amazon for use with the ES-2. I hope I have results as good as yours. If this works out I'll see about doing some 2 1/4 transparencies, probably on a V600.

How would you compare slide copies to the originals? Humm...

I would think you could at least look at sharpness and color fidelity comparing original slide to copy. I'm talking about the copiers end not the UHH viewers end. I think it's pretty obvious that it wouldn't work from the UHH viewers end.

I've enjoyed hours of preserving (I hope) years worth of memories from slides. Well done.

Good job! Was #3 taken at sunset or has the slide aged and changed colors?
