My very first Pro Football Game, a true classic - Nov. 9, 1976!

The New England Patriots had a sell out game Nov. 9, 1976 . . . everyone came to see their hero OJ Simpson play fast in his prime! Across the field was a bit of a sucffle. OJ and a Patriot player were caught fighting.
As bad-luck would have it, those two players were thown out of the game for fighting, they only played for 9 minutes in the whole game, it just started!
I have to say, those thousands fans were totally up-set, I bet that roaring booing went on for five minutes! OJ was in his prime, at his very best. Quite an athlete he was, and to see him in person was impressive.
Nobody could belived OJ only played 9 minutes! Look at the shape he was in . . . Photo made with Nikon F2 w/motor drive & Nikkor 300mm f4.5. Kodak 36exp TRI-X 400 ASA film. Kneeling w/lens mounted on mono-pod. I did make a classic shot!
Tomorrow Nov. 9, is the 43rd anniversary of this classic photo, I was 29yrs-old! AP
Epic capture AP! What developer did you use?
Amsel Adams used D-76 at 68 degrees with Tri-X 400. I followed precisely in his footsteps...
Albeit sometimes I pushed Tri-X to ASA 1600 when shooting action...
Nice thing about D-76 is it comes in a dry powder thus is very stable in storage...
Miss those days spooling 36 frame rolls in surreal absolute darkness... truly a Zen moment...
btw, if you still have those negatives seriously think about the Nikon ES-1 (or 2) slide copier...
Combo this with a 60mm micro (FX) or 40mm micro (DX) and Bob's your uncle... or "et voilĂ !"
Photoshop can handle this transformation without even breathing hard.
Below is my first attempt (in the late 70's) at the Sport of Falconry which binds man and raptor into an intimate dance of life and death... albeit I had a rough time finding any local nobility so had to improvise... A Nikon F2 with 50mm f1.4 Nikkor (manual focus)
btw, not a fan of O. J. Simpson... In my mind's eye don't believe he's a good role model for kids...
Thanks for sharing AP... missing that iconic Tri-X experience...

Welcome, Thomas902! I pushed TRI-X 1 stop developed in Diafine A+B, used Diafine quite a few years. Then, T-Max broke all the past records for the best! Thank You for your fine response. I never ever thought film would be replaced by digital. But, there's much more advantages in digital than in film! The first BIGGEST, no darkroom and chemistry to buy, big savings!
I could go on and on, but I'll stop here. We'll surly talk digital in the future . . . CIAO, AP

AP I started out in sports photography using my dad's Speed Graphic and Rolli. Graphic was a heavy beast 4 x 5 I think. Yes I have been doing this for awhile and appreciate your shot. Although I think OJ is not a good person at all. Not your fault your just doing your job.

Hi again, Jules & welcome again! You know, I also had a Grafmatic back then, but I never used it because I couldn't change to a long enough lens! Don't know how I would focus accurate. AP
