I would appreciate any and all comments about any or all of these. As usual, feel free to copy the photo and show me what you mean.
The first, "Autumn in the Wetlands" is an attempt to show the varied terrain of inter-dunal wetlands along Lake Michigan.

I like the autumnal tones in 1.

Autumn colors around here are fading. So good to get these shots In while we can. Your last image is unusual. You always seem to find those.

I like the first one. I don't think it shows varied terrain or vegetation but it is pleasing to the eye and tickles some memory cells.

Sorry, ArtyBob; I don’t get how #1 shows “... the varied terrain of inter-dunal wetlands along Lake Michigan.” Did you intend to include other images illustrating others of the varied sorts of “... terrain of inter-dunal wetlands along Lake Michigan” of which you are putatively aware?
A locale described as “inter-dunal wetlands” sounds interesting, but all I see is a shot of a patch of wet ground amidst second growth trees. What am I missing here?

Fill me in...please.

Dave

What you're missing is my fault: a wider shot. A soil expert or someone who lives in a wetland might know what this is, but not most people. I liked the water/leaves mix--but that's not enough. Here are two, more descriptive shots of the wetlands that exist on the southern shore of Lake Michigan, between the recent dunes and the dunes of the previous lake level. It's also called "The Great Marsh," and is part of the Indiana Dunes National Park.

This discussion is developing into study of that area of Michigan. It is foreign to me; but your photos make me want to visit. I thought your first photo has nice natural framing. That is important in a photo that does not have a strong point of focus for the viewer. The framing puts me right in the center of the shot and I find myself looking at the faded colors and the trees turning rapidly to their winter condition. I don't know if it is a particularly strong composition; but if you view in download it does hold some interest. I would have cropped the top where you can see a bit of sky. I don't think that is necessary for this composition.

The second shot is more interesting to me. Here we have an inviting sky with some clouds that are obscured by the branches and sparse vegetation of late fall/early winter. You have created a bit of a natural abstract here that is appealing.

The third shot reminds me of a montage like the ones you have on your website and several you have posted here before. It appears, at first, to be a bit random; but then you are made aware of the strong framing on the right. That keeps us in the composition. I'm assuming that the ground is sand; but it almost looks like concrete on my laptop. I like it.

These comments coming to you from Saranac Lake New York at the beginning of what might develop into a pretty good snow storm.

Thanks, and good luck with the snow. I spent a year in Marcy, NY. Good for tobogganing and near freezing to death. BTW, although there are similar areas in Michigan, these are from Northwest Indiana, the Indiana Dunes National Park.
