It's one length of chain doubled as you can see here. The anomalies in the shadow are caused by the chain twisting over itself.

Clearly two chains that I see. Concentrate just below his hands, you see what appear to be a single chain, then it separates again a few links before it reaches his hands, each grasping a single strand of chain. All this, and my vision is between bad and poor.

Dean have you seen the enlargement I just posted? It's a different frame but taken within a minute of the other.

Just saw it Graham. Very clear two chains showing in this shot. Still like the story that probably exists in this take. Fantastic shot.
