Have you ever noticed how unobliging the weather can be? All we ask for is some favourable light and what do we get? Fortunately the consequences of flat lighting don't have to be final, and that's where PP comes in. Is this scenery waiting for some better weather or is it a stage waiting for some drama to unfold? The choice is yours.

Feel free to download this photo to your computer and edit it any way you want to. You can do a composite, invert the image, convert to black and white, color shift, adjustment. What ever you think looks good. Then post your edit in this thread. Edits will be accepted until Thursday 9 pm. No edits will be accepted after that time. On Thursday at 9pm we will begin voting. Thank you all for your continued support of this challenge.

(PS - I'll be away from Tues through till Saturday, so please forgive the lack of responses).

Hi RG, that is a lovely photograph considering the poor lighting, I have developed your photograph which suits my personal preferences, so hope you like the outcome.

This is a list of changes I made:
Exposure reduced very slightly.
Lighting reduced by an amount enough to remove highlights in the cloud.
Shadows increased very slightly.
Whitepoint increased to improve white (brighter) areas.
Blackpoint lowered very slightly improve black areas.
Clarity increased to improve contrast slightly.
Dehaze increased slightly to improve cloudy areas.
Saturation and vibrance increased slightly to improve clour generally especially in green areas.
Sharpening increased slightly.
There was some noise in the upper half of the photograph so I applied some very slight noise reduction.

An interesting interpretation, very much like how I'd expect an illustration to look like.

Glad you enjoyed. I can imagine a painter having a go at this scene.

Beautiful image. I decided to play with the light and the contrast.

Thanks so much R.G. giving us a great image to play with. I need to go out and try to find some spots like this. 🤔
I went for a sunset. Did some CRA adjustment for evening look then changed the sky. When I added the sky I let some of it overflow onto the trees. Next got another sky with similar color and added some to the water to give it some orange reflection. The sun was in the original sky but enhanced with a touch of sun flair coming over the mountain and through the ravine. Finished up with a final curve adjustment.

Glad you enjoyed, Jim-Pops. Letting the sky spill over onto the trees sounds like a good idea for getting the new sky to blend in more effectively. As I'm sure we all know, the effect of the new sky doesn't stop at the horizon. Skies are a major factor in determining a scene's ambient light, and it's not just the parts that are lit by direct sunlight. Shadows can be significantly tinted by the ambient light, and sometimes tinted in a way that's different from what the direct light is doing. And the same things can apply to reflections, as you pointed out. Thanks for an informative and innovative post.
